Question Answered...

Hellllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooo friends,
how are you?
"W" from Sweden asked about how much my mouth was stretched out with my rapid palate expander. This is the email from the dentist to answer that.

"The expander has an 8m screw. Each turn is 1/4 of a mm. His total expansion was 8mm.  There is also a 12mm version of the appliance. "

when you look at that on a ruler, its really not that big but boy did it hurt and now I still have the space in between my mouth but my mom says she doesn't think it looks as big as it did. I haven't had to turn it for about a month now but it stays in my mouth to hold the stretch I think.

Have a good day. I am going to my school concert now to sing.

Your Friend,
Colin :)

  2. Thank you so much for writing this blog. It has really been helping my daughter, Alexis, who is getting her expander tomorrow. She has been talking about you a lot and what you wrote and it helps her to know what will really happen and how you feel about it.

  4. Hi to Randi,
Please tell Alexis I said hello and not to worry. How old is Alexis. I am 8 years old. Tell her I am happy tha tI am helping her. I think it is cool that we all stick together. Tell her it will get better. I have had it for a couple of months now and once you stop turning, everything is okay and you kind of forget about it for awhile. Tell her to write to me. I check every few days if I have comments. have a good day.

  5. Hi Clara,
How old are you? I am 8 years old. But you probably know that from reading my blog. The biggest tip my mom and I have thought about to write to you is to just relax. Drink cold ice water right after you turn it. Sometimes that helps. After a couple of minutes or a little while, you won't feel the pain anymore. I still do get food stuck in my palate expander but you learn to kind of snap it out with your tongue. The dentist gave me this mini toothbrush to stick in there to get it out so I keep that in my lunchbox for school but I haven't really used it. you do figure out how to deal with this thing. Thank you for reading my blog.
